Practical guide · how to store wheat berries

Grain storage planner

Estimate weekly use before buying containers or bulk grain.

Calculate rotation before capacity

Start with pounds or kilograms used per month, not the largest container that fits the pantry. A practical reserve is one you can rotate, inspect and lift safely.

Control moisture, heat and pests

Use food-safe containers with sound lids in a cool, dry place away from direct sun and strong odors. Do not seal grain that is warmer or wetter than the storage guidance allows.

Label every batch

Record grain type, supplier and purchase or packing date. First-in, first-out rotation and periodic inspection make quality problems easier to isolate than mixing new grain into an unidentified remainder.
